Rockwell Automation® Logix Certificate Program Guide
The Reynolds Company’s training services offers Rockwell Automation’s Logix Certificate Program to those seeking to develop their workforce skills. These in-person, instructor-led certificate courses can be taken at certain branches of The Reynolds Company throughout the year. Each curriculum is designed to highlight the major topics of each product family and/or discipline. The following information will help you navigate your chosen certificate program pathway.
This course is a first step for most individuals and is designed for those with either zero or minimal experience with ControlLogix systems. The curriculum is designed to introduce essential concepts for maintaining and troubleshooting ControlLogix systems. The coursework requires attendance from a Monday afternoon through Friday (4.5 days). More details about the structure and content of this course may be found here.
After completing this introductory course, learners may proceed to either of the certificate level courses: the Logix Maintenance Certificate (course code- CCP300) or the Logix Programming Certificate (course code- CCP250). Alternatively, if you have significant experience with Logix PLCs, the fundamentals course may be waived as a prerequisite.
Two weeks after the end of each certificate course, a web-based, timed and multiple-choice assessment will be made available to all course attendees. All those who pass the assessment will receive their certificate of achievement.
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to apply the learned concepts, terminology, hardware troubleshooting skills, and interpretation of ladder logic to troubleshoot a Logix5000™ system and restore it to normal operation. There is both a “traditional” and “accelerated” pathway for completing this certificate. The traditional option requires roughly 2 weeks of coursework and consists of taking the following classes: ControlLogix System Fundamentals (2 days), Basic Ladder Logic Interpretation (2 days), ControlLogix Maintenance and Troubleshooting (4 days) and an elective. The accelerated option is for those who have already completed their level 1 or 2 Logix course (recommendation: ControlLogix System Fundamentals and Troubleshooting). The Accelerated Logix5000 Maintainer Certificate Level 1 is a 5-day commitment (see full course agenda here).
This certificate course is for individuals who program Logix5000 controllers and need to be able to create new projects, draft ladder logic for any application and add functionality such as data arrays, messages/instructions and produced/consumed data to applications. There are “traditional” and “accelerated” pathways to complete this certificate. The traditional pathway includes taking a ControlLogix System Fundamentals class (2 days), a Basic Ladder Logic Programming class (2 days), a Project Development class (4 days) and an elective. The accelerated pathway can be taken if a level 1 or 2 Logix course (such as ControlLogix System Fundamentals and Troubleshooting) has already been completed. The Accelerated Logix5000 Programmer Certificate Level 1 is a 5-day event. The full course agenda and additional details are available here).
To sign up for the Logix Advanced Programming Certificate (course code- CCP251), individuals must already have passed the examination and recieved their Logix Programming Certificate (course code- CCP250).
The Reynolds Company offers this 4-day course twice per year for those who need to learn more highly optimized project development skills.
As with the other two certificates, the online assessment may be taken two weeks after course completion. A passing grade is required to receive this certificate. More details, including the agenda, a description of the hands-on practice and recommendations for future coursework can be found here.
